The Dedazos
One more potential candidate was suddenly added to the race for governing the powerful Province of Buenos Aires. As it is typical from Kirchner`s government, confusion reigns in the months before defining a candidate.
In Mexico during the long reign of the PRI (Partido Revolucionario Industrial) the leaving president would choose its successor. This practice was known as El Dedazo (the big finger).
Kirchner`s administration seems to be using this practice for its internal decisions. Choosing the candidate for the official party seems to be left for Kirchner to decide. However, instead of having one clear candidate, Kirchner likes to spread rumours about numerous potential runners, causing confusing and anxiety to many of us.
Recently, Kirchner added one more to the race for Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires: the vice-president Daniel Scioli.
Scioli quickly thanked but said his heart is in the City of Buenos Aires (independent from the Province). The vice president is planning to run for governor for the city next year.
The others contenders were relieved after being upset by the accumulation of yet another candidate to the already crowded internal race.
